Aila'au- the wood devourer

The Flame god of Hawaiian mythology that existed on the island of Hawaii prior to Pele's arrival. He was the god who could eat through any wood, his blazing inferno would consume all in his path. He was also a patron of the fires that burned through wood for wood fires back then, providing heat for warmth and cooking.

When Pele arrived he did not like the idea of another fire god usurping his power and territory, so he fought her. She of course won and continued on to claim the great volcano as her family's new home.
